What is Gudog’s Veterinary Coverage?
All Gudog bookings are backed by our veterinary accident coverage to protect all dogs and cats in case of emergencies.
Overview
- Gudog’s Veterinary Coverage is a reimbursement program for claims related to treatment and veterinary costs from certified and active veterinarians.
- Gudog’s Veterinary Coverage is not an insurance policy but covers treatment costs from certified and active veterinarians. All costs are directly covered by Gudog, and the program is intended as a complement to private insurance held by Gudog users (either the sitter or the dog owner).
- The program only applies to dogs/cats included in a Gudog booking, and the maximum reimbursable amount is £/€500.
During Dog Boarding, Walking, and Daycare Services:
- Injuries caused by encounters with other animals
- Injuries resulting from road accidents
- Accidental falls or tumbles
- Ingestion of foreign objects or substances
- Poisoning or intoxication from accidental exposure
- Other accidental injuries or traumas caused by a third party, provided there is no negligence involved
During Drop-In Visits or House-Sitting Services:
- The above coverage will also apply, however exclusively to incidents occurring outside the home of the Pet Owner, under the Service Provider’s supervision during a booking.
For Cats
During Drop-In Visits or House-Sitting Services:
- Accidental injuries or trauma caused by interactions with Pet Sitters while under their care, provided no negligence is involved.
The following coverage applies only to incidents that occur outside the pet owner's home if the pet escapes through the main door while the Service Provider is entering or exiting the home, and always under the Service Provider's supervision starting or ending. This assumes the Pet Sitter accesses the home carefully, adheres to the Pet Owner’s instructions, and ensures the main door is securely closed after entry or exit:
- Injuries caused by encounters with other animals
- Injuries resulting from road accidents
- Accidental falls or tumbles
- Ingestion of foreign objects or substances
- Poisoning or intoxication from accidental exposure
- Other accidental injuries or traumas caused by a third party, provided there is no negligence involved
Not Covered For Cats and Dogs
- Illnesses or age-related conditions, as well as injuries resulting from prior surgeries
- Infectious (e.g., conjunctivitis), episodic (e.g., epilepsy), or parasitic (e.g., flea infestation) diseases of any kind
- Diarrhea, vomiting, or other episodes not related to any of the covered incidents.
- Treatments or veterinary costs for ongoing care beyond initial treatment, including follow-up appointments, check-ups, rehabilitation, or additional treatments
- Veterinary costs incurred after 7 calendar days from the end of the booking.
- Cosmetic or elective surgeries
- Mistreatment, exhaustion, or poor hygiene attributed to the pet owner
- Injuries or traumas resulting from negligent actions or intentional harm caused by a Service Provider or third party
- Damages to the property or home of the pet sitter
- Damages to the property or home of the pet owner
- Injuries to pet sitters, their family members, or roommates
- Injuries to the pet sitter’s own pets or other animals in their care outside the Gudog platform
- Claims involving pets without microchips in regions where microchipping is legally required
Exceptions
Reimbursement under the Gudog Guarantee may be denied if:
- There is evidence of negligence, such as lack of supervision, failure to administer prescribed medication, allowing off-leash walking where prohibited, failure to follow agreed-upon care instructions, or any other neglectful action deemed by Gudog to be negligence on the part of the Service Provider.
- The incident requiring emergency treatment was directly caused by the pet sitter’s dog(s) or by other pet(s) under the pet sitter’s care.
- The dog or cat does not have a microchip in regions where microchipping is legally required, or the microchip number on the veterinary report does not match the number listed on the Gudog profile.
- The required documentation is not provided within 7 calendar days after the first veterinary visit.
What to Do in Case of an Emergency and How to File a Claim
If a dog/cat requires emergency care during a Gudog booking, the first step is to take the dog immediately to a certified and active veterinarian.
Once the dog/cat is safe under professional care, we recommend reviewing our Veterinary Coverage summary to confirm if your claim is eligible under Gudog’s Veterinary Coverage program.
